The Triglav Lakes Valley is one of the finest high-altitude hikes in the Julian Alps, threading through a chain of seven permanent glacial lakes set in barren karst terrain above 1500 metres. The trail climbs from the Savica waterfall area through dwarf pine and over rocky passes to reach Prehodavci and the Zasavska Koča hut at 2071 metres. The lakes range from deep blue to milky green depending on the season, and the surrounding peaks create a truly wild alpine amphitheatre.
