Peca is the highest peak entirely within the Karavanke mountain range, straddling the Slovenian-Austrian border at 2126 metres. The ascent from the Topla valley on the Slovenian side is long but not technical, climbing through spruce forest and emerging onto a broad alpine ridge. The summit offers views into both countries, and underneath the mountain lies the abandoned Mežica lead and zinc mine, now accessible as an underground cycling and kayaking adventure.
