Stol from Žirovnica — 14km Hard Hiking Trail in Gorenjska (1400m Elevation)

Stol is the highest peak of the western Karavanke range at 2236 metres, rising as a massive wall above the villages of the upper Gorenjska region. The trail from Žirovnica is long and relentlessly steep, gaining 1400 metres through forest and alpine meadows before reaching the windswept summit ridge on the Austrian border. The mountain is famous for its paragliding launch site, and on summer weekends colourful gliders spiral above the Slovenian valleys below.
