Velika Planina from Kamniška Bistrica — 10km Medium Hiking Trail in Gorenjska (1000m Elevation)

Velika Planina is a high karst plateau in the Kamnik Alps famous for its cluster of over 60 wooden shepherds’ huts — one of the last active alpine herding settlements in Europe. The trail from Kamniška Bistrica climbs steeply through beech and spruce forest before emerging onto open grassland dotted with crocuses in spring and gentians in summer.
